What ever happened to Dean Witter?
Creating a legacy for generations to learn and remember.
What ever happened to Dean Witter? Remember that name? Maybe not, and that’s exactly why I’m asking. How do you want to be remembered?
You are a creator, a visionary. How do you want to be remembered? Why did you choose this path? As this creator and visionary, you and your work are put under a microscope like no other. Not by a “boss” looking over your shoulder but by your own conviction to the process, the craft and then by every potential viewer, listener, consumer or critic that exists, especially in this social media-connected world BUT a less heart-connected world. The criticism and rejection can be overwhelming, and yet, you, the trailblazer, cannot not create. Whether you are a record label head, a museum director, a songwriter, a performing artist, a painter, a sculptor, an author, a graphic designer, a publisher, an architect, a dancer, and on and on…you are that brave soul who opens your heart and soul for the world to witness. Your beliefs are put on display, leaving it all on that stage. Letting it bleed for the world to witness.
The “who” you are is made clear for the world to judge. So how or “WHO” do you want to be remembered? Being true to oneself is so important. Honesty. The connection of what you believe, think, say and then do. Integrity. What you do when no one is looking. I want to commend you for pushing on and never giving up. What you create today will live on long past your days, the numbers and dash that will be carved in granite. What you leave behind is your legacy. No fear. Where do you find your inspiration? Tell me…share so others who are still learning or battling the fear can know where to go. There is always enough for everyone so sharing truly is caring. Keep reading for more on Dean Witter…but first…

Okay, back to Dean Witter…he founded Dean Witter & Co. in 1924 and eventually merged with Morgan Stanley in 1997 to form Morgan Stanley/Dean Witter. Which is where I remember hearing his name on TV or radio ads. In 2001 they dropped his name and went back to just Morgan Stanley. Don’t be like Dean. Don’t have your name casually dropped. Create a legacy that you will always be remembered for creating. Do good work and let that legacy live forever. Your legacy of fearless creativity.
And that legacy starts right now where you are using what you have. So, GO…CREATE…Let it BLEED. Share. Fearlessly.
Until next time…share strong, stay whole.
